My First Custom Quilt is Finished!!!

After much indecision and a summer of designing the quilting, quilting and un-quilting :), I finally finished this custom quilt for my customer and friend in Newmarket. She pieced the quilt for her husband and he quite liked the end product. The process was a learning experience for me! The most valuable lesson I learned was not to let the customer give me her designs for the quilting. I will do what I think is right and works for the quilt. The customer needs to trust my judgement.

Soar on Wings Like Eagles Wall Hanging

The wall hanging I made last year for Holy Cross in Newmaket, has been accepted for display at the “Sacred Threads Exhibition 2013” in Herndon, Va.  from July 10 – 28. I’m very exited to be able to exhibit a quilt in such talented company.

Minister’s Stole

I was commissioned to make this stole for Tom Doherty, one of the ministers at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Newmarket, Ontario, by the congregation. This gift is a wonderful way to officially welcome him! While consulting with Tom, we came up with this design, which portrays the colours of the Chakras as well as the promise of the rainbow. The rainbow colours are very appropriate as well, because Holy Cross is a Progressive Christianity Church, being inclusive and welcoming to everyone. It was joy to making this stole!

Fractured Lily

I finished a Fractured Lily which will be a present for the woman who is renting us her apartment in Versailles, France in July for 9 days. The wall hanging is small enough to roll up and fit into my bicycle pannier. It will travel from Berlin to Prague, before arriving in Versailles. This was a new technique for me and I enjoyed the process as well as the result. I added some free motion quilting.
